Istria300 shifts up a gear
More than 2100 of the 2500 entries are already sold out for the third edition of the road bike event in Poreč. “And we want to offer the riders an even better experience,” promises Event Director Julius Rupitsch.
In its third year, the Istria300 is shifting up a gear again. After 850 participants at the premiere and 1500 last year, this year 2100 starting places are already gone seven months before the start and only 400 are still available. Due to the great demand, the limit has been raised again and is now 2500 participants for the first time. This makes the Istria300 the fastest-growing road cycling event in Europe. “By limiting the number of participants, we ensure that the very high quality of the event is maintained,” says Race Director Vladimir Miholjević.
The event is particularly popular with athletes from Austria with 1100 and Germany with 300 starters. Logically, when autumn fog, rain and cold weather arrive in these latitudes, you can extend the summer in Istria and ride your road bike with friends again – sea view included. “Poreč is also the ideal racing bike destination. You can explore the entire Istrian peninsula perfectly from here,” says Event Director Julius Rupitsch.
In the third year, however, there should be more participants and even more quality. “Although we already have participants from 32 nations on the entry list, we want to make Istria300 palatable to an even more international audience,” says Vladimir Miholjević. “To this end, we will take measures to offer the participants an even better and greater experience,” says Julius Rupitsch.
Meanwhile, the concept that gives road cyclists total flexibility remains intact: there are three courses, but only one entry fee. You can decide on the course whether you want to ride 156, 230 or 300 kilometres. It couldn’t be simpler. The same applies to the entire stay. Thanks to the promo code, participants save at selected Valamar hotels on the event weekend. An Early Bird breakfast three hours before the Istria300 start and the possibility to store the bikes in the rooms complete the Valamar service. Not for nothing is it called “Valamar loves Bike”.
Participation in the Istria300 is a ride to the blue sea, but not a ride into the blue. For optimal preparation for the highlight in autumn, the Istria300 training camps in April are ideal.
