3500 starters - Istria300 sold out once more
“Ride your limits!” – that’s the motto of Istria300 in Poreč. The first of those limits has now been reached: this year’s edition of the event is now officially sold out. A limited number of starting places in combination with Valamar accommodation are still available. There is also a special offer for ladies: „they can still register“, says Event Director Julius Rupitsch.
This year marks the fourth time that Poreč will be the centre of the road cycling world at the end of the summer – and for the fourth time in a row, Istria300 is sold out well before the first riders cross the starting line in Poreč’s historic old town. With 3,500 starters, the number of participants has increased again compared to last year and could probably have been even higher. “But the limit is necessary in order to guarantee the high quality of the event”, explains Race Director Vladimir Miholjevic. “We have riders from 40 nations on the starting line. This clearly shows that Istria is a true paradise for road cycling.”
The new event date
To facilitate our participants’ trip to/from the event, Istria300 will take place on 28 September for the first time, instead of a week later in October. “Transport options and flight connections will be significantly better at that time” explains Miholjević.
Course modifications
For Istria300’s fourth edition, the courses have also been adapted: this year, there are two shortcuts to the 300-kilometre course, that will shorten the course to 209 and 134 kilometres respectively. The flexible choice of routes is one of the success factors for this unique concept. The decision as to whether you ride 134, 209 or 300 kilometres can be made on the course. It couldn’t be simpler.
Istria300 Ladies – the initiative to get more women into roadbiking
Istria300 also sets a special focus on ladies: the “Istria300 Ladies Squad” is being organised by amateur cycling icon Catherine Rossmann once again this year. “Women can still register” says Event Director Julius Rupitsch. A small number of packages for hotel + starting place are also still available.
Wrap up your summer by the sea
The reasons for the success of Istria300 are obvious. When autumn arrives and fog, rain and cold weather set in in Austria and Germany, you will still find summer in Istria – the perfect opportunity to ride your road bike with friends once more – sea view included. “Poreč is the ideal road bike destination, as you can explore the entire Istrian peninsula from here” says Toni Hrvatin from hotel partner Valamar.
Valamar – your Istria300 host
Thanks to the Istria300 promo code, participants receive discounts in selected Valamar hotels during race weekend. An early bird breakfast on race day and the option to store bikes in the rooms top off Valamar’s service – “Valamar loves Bike” is not just an empty phrase. Brand new: the Poreč Bike Centre is now located in front of Valamar Parentino Hotel, where the latest KTM bikes, (including roadbikes), can be rented.
